Product & Care FAQs
Product FAQs
Can socks be 100% bamboo?
In practice, no. Pure bamboo (usually “viscose from bamboo”) does not have the elastic recovery needed for socks to stay up or keep their shape. To fit comfortably and hold on your feet, socks require a small percentage of stretch and reinforcement yarns (e.g., elastane and/or polyamide).
“100% bamboo” claims for socks are misleading — check the fibre content label to see the actual blend.
At Naked Nation, we use a high bamboo content for softness and breathability, with a small, necessary amount of stretch yarns for comfort, durability and shape retention.
Are bamboo socks good for you?
Yes. Bamboo socks are soft on the skin, breathable and naturally moisture-wicking, helping to keep feet dry and comfortable throughout the day. Many customers with sensitive skin tell us bamboo feels gentler than conventional cotton blends.
What are Naked Nation bamboo socks made from?
Our socks use high-quality bamboo-based fibres blended with small amounts of elastic yarns for fit and recovery. This balance delivers softness, breathability and durability you can rely on for everyday wear and sport.
Are bamboo socks good for sweaty feet and odour?
Bamboo fabrics are excellent at moving moisture away from the skin, which helps reduce the conditions that cause odour. For best results, wash socks regularly, air-dry thoroughly and rotate pairs so each has time to recover between wears.
How should I wash bamboo socks?
Machine wash at 30–40°C on a gentle cycle with similar colours. Use a mild detergent, avoid bleach and fabric softeners, and turn socks inside-out to reduce friction. These steps help maintain softness and shape.
Can I tumble dry bamboo socks?
We recommend air-drying flat. If you do tumble dry, use a cool, low-heat setting and remove promptly. High heat can reduce elasticity and may cause shrinkage over time.
Do bamboo socks shrink?
Any knitted sock can shrink if exposed to high heat. Stick to 30–40°C washes and avoid hot tumble drying to minimise shrinkage and keep the original fit.
Are bamboo socks biodegradable and sustainable?
Bamboo is a fast-growing, resource-efficient crop. Finished socks are not fully biodegradable due to processing and the small amount of elastane used for stretch, but bamboo-based fabrics generally have a lower environmental impact than many synthetics. We prioritise responsibly sourced fibres and long-lasting construction so you buy better and less often.
Bamboo vs cotton vs polyester – which is best for socks?
Each fibre has strengths. Bamboo offers exceptional softness and moisture control; organic cotton is robust and familiar; polyester adds durability and quick-dry performance. Our blends are designed to balance comfort, breathability and lifespan for daily and athletic use.
Are bamboo socks suitable for sport and running?
Yes. The moisture-management and breathability of bamboo make it a great choice for training and everyday movement. Look for sport styles with targeted cushioning or arch support if you prefer extra comfort.
How long do bamboo socks last?
Longevity depends on usage and care. Wearing with trimmed nails, washing at 30–40°C, and air-drying typically extends life. Rotating multiple pairs and avoiding high heat will also keep them at their best for longer.
